Hey Fun | Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop with *Giveaway*

You guys feel that?  That strange feeling floating in the air?  That's the fun feeling of the Scrapping Our Stash blog hop where you find us digging into our stashes.  We should all do this more often!  :)

You should've arrived from Cathy's blog...did you see her sketch pen outlining technique?  Her projects are always so inspiring!

My project today uses the Fancy Pants Happy Go Lucky collection from 2013.  I love the colors in the collection, and they go well with my sweet boy.

Paxton's school did a Kindergarten Hoedown, and he had a blast!

I splattered some Heidi Swapp Bronzer Color Shine around the base and then adhered it to the brown cardstock to sew along the edges.

I used cut files from Scrapbook & Cards Today titled "Circle Fun" and cut some out using the same color cardstock as my base.  Then I layered different papers behind the circles and sewed around the edges for some fun interest.

I used some ephemera to create the title with the "fun" circle.

I added some stickers from the collection and then journaling underneath one of the phrase stickers.

And now it's giveaway time!

The Happiest Place on Earth | My Scraps & More Sketch #108

What's up, y'all?  It's time for another My Scraps & More sketch reveal.  At first, I couldn't think of any photos I specifically wanted to scrap, and then remembered I have a **whole box** of photos from our trip to Walt Disney World in November that are waiting!  We had a blast - it was our first trip there as a family.  And we got to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, too!  And Presley had fun snapping selfies with all the characters.

This time, I reached for a 5x7 photo of us in front of THE castle at Magic Kingdom the night before Thanksgiving.  Our first day at Magic Kingdom was on Saturday, and we went for Magic Kingdom day two on Wednesday to eat an early Thanksgiving meal at Liberty Tree Tavern as well as visit rides we didn't get to see Saturday.  And this time?  We stayed for the parade and the fireworks - we watched from the Rose Garden...it truly was magical!

I have had the idea for using the famous Mickey ears as a cut file for one of my layouts for awhile, and looking at the sketch, I decided to turn the larger background rectangle into Mickey after rotating the sketch 90 degrees.  I sewed around Mickey's face after cutting to help give definition.  The color of the castle was perfect to use Simple Stories Say Cheese II!

I cut the red paper with the polka dots from the "2X12, 4X12 & 6X12 Elements" paper, cutting around the scallops.  I added a layer of the striped blue paper, and added a gold mickey face I saved from our travel agency mail that came with our paperwork along with a phrase sticker.  I used my Cameo to cut a chevron strip using the yellow star paper.

For the scalloped areas in the sketch, I opted to use hearts cut with my Cameo of the Simple Stories Say Cheese II cut files combined with stickers.  I turned the blue one above into my journal spot!

I combined the bottom hearts with other stickers, too.

Finally I added the title.  I had been thinking about what my title should be the whole time I worked on the layout, and I knew I wanted to use the curve of the Mickey ears to help highlight it.  Here's what I came up with using different alpha stickers from the collection.  I wanted "happiest" to stand out, so I used the gold foil for that word.

I added a few star stickers, gems, and sequins to help add interest the the layout.

Here is the sketch by Katrina Hunt:

Just Chillin' | My Scraps & More Sketch 107

Hi everyone!  I'm happy to be back sharing my take on a My Scraps & More sketch.  Today's layout uses Bo Bunny's #ForeverYoung collection.  I love the bright colors in it that highlight my daughter's outfit...they work so well together!  Here is my take on the sketch (I decided to add a 2nd photo to it):

I loved this sketch because it's so versatile.  I started my center grid with a layer of wide silver and white My Mind's Eye washi tape, and then I trimmed pieces of the 6x6 paper pad as well as a border page from the collection to layer over the tape.  After I had the pieces where I wanted them, I sewed in black along the grid.

I matted my photos in white and then black cardstock, and I used 3D foam to pop them up a bit for depth.  I trimmed the #ForeverYoung piece from the barcode of one of my papers...I don't think I've ever used the collection name/logo in an actual layout before!  But I thought it was fitting since the sketch "hashtag" is the center piece.  :)

I trimmed two 12" strips to border the left and top of my layout and sewed along them to help frame my page.  Next, I fussycut some of the citrus pieces and punched a heart to sprinkle around my page.  I punched the "Sweet!" circle out of a journal spot piece to use as another embellishment.  I stamped some ink spots and added the black foam arrows from an Amy Tan Plus One Kal Barteski Thickers set.

Next I created my title from Tim Holtz black letters and another set of pink foam Thickers.  I stamped an arrow from the Bo Bunny collection and sprinkled some matching Queen & Co Droplets around the layout, too.

I did a tiny bit of journaling in the bottom right corner to keep it simple.

Here is a look at the sketch:

Now make it a point to play along for your chance at some goodies from My Scraps & More!  They have a great collection of papers and embellishments as well as lots of great challenges on their Forum.  Come join us!!

Have a super weekend everyone...chocolate dreams for every one of you!
